BFAR distributes fuel subsidy cards to fisherfolk in Roxas, Palawan

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) -- The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) regional office in the Mimaropa region together with local officials recently distributed fuel subsidy cards to 132 fisherfolk in Roxas, Palawan.

Each beneficiary received a fuel coupon which they can exchange for P3,000 worth of fuel.

The subsidy cards aim to provide financial relief to fishermen who heavily rely on fuel for their fishing activities.

According to BFAR Palawan Field Office Southern Palawan representative, the initiative is part of the government’s commitment to supporting the livelihoods of fisherfolk and ensuring the sustainability of the local fisheries industry.

The fuel subsidy cards are expected to have a direct impact on the operational costs of small-scale fishers, helping them cope with the economic burden of fuel expenses.

This initiative aligns with the government’s broader efforts to promote inclusive economic growth and reduce poverty in rural areas.
