Agustin and his men treated the children to a hearty meal in a local hamburger restaurant chain and treated them in an amusement park at the Integrated Bus Terminal (IBT).
Drawing inspiration from his own experiences of financial hardship, Agustin empathetically expressed the challenges those less fortunate face. Recognizing that residents from the barangay, particularly those farther from the city, seldom have the opportunity to visit the city proper, he seized the chance to bring joy to the children.
Expressing his gladness upon receiving the award, Agustin said “Nakatanggap ako ng ibang medalya pero iba ito na klaseng award, dahil ang ginawa ko ay mula sa wisdom ni God na binigay sa akin (I have received other medals, but this is a different kind of award because what I did was from the wisdom of God that was given to me),” he said.
During Agustin's first day at Police Station 1, which coincided with Mother's Day, he initiated the giving of roses to mothers in his area of jurisdiction. He also distributed towels to the fathers on Father's Day.
Meanwhile, Police Master Sergeant Abdellah D. Lama, who was a graduate of nursing was also awarded the Medalya ng Papuri for providing immediate assistance and administering first aid to Roberto Biating, who was involved in a vehicular accident along Governor Camins Highway, Zamboanga City.
Lama's team was conducting a routine checkpoint when Biating met an accident.
Lama, who always carried a first aid kit, came to Biating’s aid.
Expressing his surprise at receiving the award, he humbly stated, "Ginawa ko lang ang aking part as a police officer and a public servant. Wala ako ini-expect but im happy na na recognize ng nasa taas. (I simply fulfilled my duties as a police officer and a public servant. I had no expectations, but I am delighted to have been recognized by the higher authorities.)"
Police Staff Sergeant John Alford E Pacaña was honored for his integrity in returning a sling bag that contained P23,000 in cash to a local tourist at Gantao Hills, Sergio Osmeña, Zamboanga del Norte. Similarly, Police Corporal Moh Nur N Abdua received recognition for his honesty when he returned a wallet with P5,700 along the road in Barangay Talisayan, Zamboanga City.
Furthermore, Patrolman Mary Victory Lourem S Lozano was commended for her swift response in aiding a Criminology student who fainted while on the road.
In his speech, PRO9 Regional Director Brigadier General Bowenn Joey M Masauding expressed his admiration for the police personnel and expressed hopes that their deeds would serve as an inspiration for others to follow.
"We proudly acknowledge the top 5 individuals who have exemplified exceptional dedication, unwavering integrity, and a profound commitment to serving our community. These individuals have set an inspiring standard of conduct, and their actions stand as a radiant example for us all to follow," he said.
