DPWH concretes road leading to IP community in Hermosa

BALANGA CITY (PIA) -- Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) concreted a road leading to an Indigenous Peoples community in Hermosa, Bataan.

The P4.95-million infrastructure is located at sitio Pastolan in barangay Tipo.

DPWH Bataan 1st District Engineer Erlindo Flores Jr. said the project involved the construction of Portland Cement Concrete Pavement that is 0.23 meters thick and spans 497 meters, as well as installation of wheel guards covering a length of 13 meters.

Locals emphasized that the access road serves as a crucial link connecting sitio Pastolan to the broader Hermosa, signifying a significant enhancement in infrastructure for the area.

Flores furthered that the completed project has significantly contributed to the improved accessibility of schools and healthcare facilities, enhancing community health and well-being.

Moreover, it has fostered better trade opportunities and empowered residents to participate more actively in the local economy.

“The enhanced access road has the potential to increase incomes and raise the overall standard of living, demonstrating DPWH's commitment to providing critical infrastructure that empowers communities,” he pressed.

The project was implemented as part of the agency’s Basic Infrastructure Program funded under the 2023 national budget. (MJSC/CLJD-PIA 3)
