P4M irrigation project to boost Nueva Vizcaya’s agri sector

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) -- The P4 million Irrigation Canal Project of the Department of Agrarian Reform in Barangay Bansing in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya is expected to boost agricultural production.

Acting Provincial Agrarian Reform Program officer Neil Lumauan said the newly constructed Amococan-Nagtipunan Communal Irrigation System (CIS) will provide irrigation access to a total of 30 hectares of agricultural land in the area.

He said the irrigation project is expected to benefit over 35 agrarian reform beneficiaries who are members of Amococan Nagtipunan Farmer Irrigators Association, Inc.

“The recent pre-final inspection of the project was already done and the communal irrigation system) is set to be turned over to the farmer-irrigators within the first quarter of the year,” he said.

He added that the irrigation canal project is part of DAR’s farm productivity support program to improve irrigation systems in key agrarian reform communities so that more rice will be produced.

He also said that the project is one of the interventions of the department towards the attainment of the food security agenda of President Ferdinand R. Marcos’ administration. (ALM/BME/PIA NVizcaya)
