Ifugao town MDRRMC  strengthens response capabilities of barangays

LAMUT, Ifugao (PIA)-- The Lamut Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) is actively working to strengthen the  response capabilities to calamities of the barangay DRRMCs.

The MDRRMC recently conducted evacuation simulation exercises in Sitio Bunog, Nayon, and Sitio Agang-ang, Bimpal, which have been identified as flood-prone areas.

The primary goal of the simulation exercise was  to prepare and train communities and response teams, ensuring efficient and organized responses to potential flood-related emergencies.

The exercise encompassed various aspects, including the identification of evacuation routes, establishment of evacuation centers, active community participation, proficient search and rescue operations, effective medical response, smooth traffic management, and thorough documentation and reporting.

A post-evacuation evaluation was also conducted at Nayon barangay hall to assess the simulation's impact, identify areas for improvement, and gather valuable feedback from participants.

Bimpal barangay captain Laurence Dulnuan said this simulation served as a valuable learning opportunity, enabling them to better assist their constituents during emergencies. He looks forward to more hands-on training and hopes that in the next session, they will be more involved in rescue operations to gain practical experience in proper rescue and bandage techniques.

Nayon barangay captain Jose Tinapay urged participants to approach the simulation exercise seriously and to actively engage in the process.

Police and fire officers also shared their assessments and recommendations  for improvement for  both the participants and organizers.
