PDEA destroys marijuana plantation sites in La Union-Ilocos Sur-Benguet boundary

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union (PIA) – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Regional Office 1, in a joint eradication operation with local police authorities, destroyed three marijuana plantation sites in La Union-Ilocos Sur-Benguet boundaries on January 11.


Some 15,600 fully grown marijuana plants and 5,000 marijuana seedlings were successfully uprooted and destroyed in the plantation sites with a total land area of 2,402 square meters.


Maripe De Guzman, regional information officer of PDEA, noted that the marijuana plants and seedlings busted are worth P3,320,000.


"Our constant surveillance led us to discover the said illegal plantations," De Guzman said. 


However, no suspect was arrested.


De Guzman said destroyed marijuana plants and seedlings were burned onsite immediately during the operation.
