Marikina extends business permit, tax exemption for sari-sari, carinderia stores

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) -- Good news! The City Government Marikina extends business permit renewal and business tax exemption for sari-sari stores and carinderia owners.

This after Marikina City Mayor Marcy Teodoro issued Ordinance 139, Series of 2023 or the “ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE PERIOD FOR THE RENEWAL OF BUSINESS PERMIT WITHOUT SURCHARGES AND PENALTIES” and Ordinance 140, Series 2023 or the “ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR FULL BUSINESS PERMIT AND BUSINESS TAX EXEMPTION FOR SARI-SARI STORES AND CARINDERIA IN MARIKINA CITY FOR THE TAX YEAR 2024.”

The extension of renewal of the business permit until March 31, 2024, instead of January 20, 2024, aims to give time for sari-sari store and carinderia owners to process their business permits without worrying about paying fines and additional charges

Meanwhile, the exemption is provided yearly by the city government to qualified sari-sari stores and carinederia owners to provide relief to small businesses:

  • with a start-up capital of not more than 10,000
  • with a yearly sale of not more than Php180,000
  • stores not selling cigarettes and/or liquor

The city government has been implementing business permits and business tax exemptions for sari-sari stores and carinderia’s since 2017. (Marikina City/PIA-NCR)
