Newly constructed retaining wall in Muntinlupa to help reduce flood effects

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) -- As a long-term solution to frequent flooding in Barangay Cupang, Muntinlupa City, the Department of Public Works and Highways – National Capital Region (DPWH-NCR) has completed the construction of a linear meter retaining wall.

Through the Las Piñas-Muntinlupa District Engineering Office, the specifically designed flood control structure is situated at Tuklas River along the Philippine National Railways (PNR) near the diversion waterway of Alabang and Cupang, Muntinlupa City.

The 373.46-linear meter project includes the construction of the box culvert and retaining wall, which not only widens the waterway but also smoothens water flow during the rainy season.

The DPWH-NCR also assured that the barrier that can withstand the overflowing of floodwater will mitigate flood impacts to residents in the area.

Residents, meanwhile thanked the government agency for the speedy project completion. (DPWH/PIA-NCR)
