LTO holds driver’s licensing caravan in Romblon

ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) -- The Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Romblon held its first mobile driver’s licensing caravan to provide convenient access to driver's license services for residents of Romblon Island.

Approximately 650 motorists, including 450 applicants of student permits, are expected to benefit from the mobile caravan.

LTO Romblon head Jocelyn Rillo emphasized that this initiative eliminates the hindrance of geographical distance from the LTO office, as the services are brought directly to the community.

"This caravan will give them the opportunity to renew and obtain a driver's license. The distance from the LTO office will no longer be a hindrance because we are bringing the services to them," said Rillo.

In addition to license services, the LTO is offering a free theoretical driving course for residents interested in obtaining a student permit. Participants will leave with a student license, as the caravan includes a clinic partnered with the LTO to provide medical certificates.

Rillo acknowledged that many residents on the islands of Romblon do not have licenses due to the distance from the LTO office in Odiongan.

She emphasized their commitment to reaching out to the community and providing essential services.

"Last year, we conducted two caravans on the island, but many still did not avail themselves because a lot of people still do not have licenses," added Rillo.

The mobile caravan is set to move to Sibuyan Island the following week, and residents interested in availing the services may contact the local government of Cajidiocan to secure a slot. (PJF/PIA Mimaropa - Romblon)
