In the lush landscape of Barangay Binakalan in Gingoog City, Philippines, a story of grit, innovation, and fair trade practice is brewing. DonCris Cacao, a company rooted in humble beginnings, is shaking up the global chocolate scene with its revolutionary cacao creations and unwavering commitment to empowering local farmers.

Their journey began in 2021, with Mr. Eliodoro Maciba planting the seeds of a dream – a cacao farm dedicated to fair trade and quality beans. Eliodoro's passion was infectious, inspiring his daughter, Christina, to join him in crafting the finest cocoa liquor and tablea. However, fate dealt a blow, and Eliodoro sadly passed away that same year.

Christina, fueled by her father's vision and equitable trade practices, refused to let the dream die. She transformed DonCris Cacao into more than just a farm – it became a chocolate sanctuary, where raw beans metamorphose into artisanal masterpieces. This is where Pure Tablea is born, a celebration of cacao's unadulterated essence, sourced from sustainable and ethically managed farms. Each bite whispers of tradition, connecting you to the heart of chocolate's origin.

"As we are all aware, there is a high global demand, even here in the Philippines. Personally, one of my advocacies is to support farmers. Why did I become interested in consolidating cacao beans? Well, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is assisting me in Misamis Oriental, Region 10. They connect me with farmers, organizations, and associations, and I engage in discussions with them," explained Christina, the company CEO and president, during the launch of their products: Pure Tablea, Doncris Chocolade, and Global Raw Cacao Bean Exports on Saturday, January 20, in Quezon City.

"The main reason is that I observed the plight of farmers. Firstly, DonCris can purchase cacao beans at a fair price, ensuring that farmers are not taken advantage of. I am aware, based on research and personal knowledge, that some companies supplying abroad offer less favorable pricing. Don Chris wants to enter this market because I understand how challenging the bean production process is," she added.

"I witnessed this on my own farm, and that's why we aim to assist farmers by ensuring they have a reliable buyer, and we also provide training to our partner farmers – those who collaborate with DonCris," she further said.

DonCris Cacao, however, doesn't rest on tradition. It leaps, bounds, and twirls on the dance floor of innovation. Enter DonCris Chocolade, a symphony of flavors and textures that redefine luxury chocolate. However, DonCris aims to stand out by fostering innovation and pioneering cacao advancements that go beyond conventional offerings. Our commitment goes beyond merely producing chocolates. This commitment is evident in the unique nature of our second product release, which distinguishes us from other companies in the industry," Christina said.

"At DonCris, we aspire to create something distinctive, instilling a sense of pride among Filipinos. We want Filipinos to say, 'We can do this!' We envision a Philippines recognized not only for Belgian or European chocolates but as one of the best contributors to the global supply of high-quality chocolates. We are determined to showcase that the Philippines has the potential to be a key player in the world of fine chocolates," she added.
