DPWH Aurora completes bridge in San Luis

BALER, Aurora (PIA) -- Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed the 60-lineal meter Biclat Bridge in San Luis, Aurora.

The P55.85-million structure was built along A.C. Buencamino St. that is located near the boundary of San Luis and Baler.

DPWH Aurora District Engineer Roderick Andal said the permanent concrete bridge now provides farmers with a quicker and safer route to the provincial capital or market centers, eliminating the need to cross Biclat River which often overflows during heavy rains and typhoons.

“Residents and farmers can now easily access the barangays of Dibalo and Dibut in San Luis, which were once difficult to reach,” he added.

The project's scope of work also includes the construction of a total of 454 linear meters of road at approaches A and B, and a flood control structure with an access ramp, allowing residents to safely reach the river.

Andal added that stone masonry and grouted riprap were built to ensure the bridge is protected from scouring, 38 solar street lights were installed to provide night lighting, and thermoplastic pavement markings and road safety signages were placed to ensure the protection of motorists passing through the area.

“We have also improved inter-town connectivity with this project as motorists can use it as an alternative route to Baler and barangay Dibut in San Luis, reducing travel time between these areas from 20 to about 10 minutes,” Andal shared.

The infrastructure now serves as a crucial link, allowing people and vehicles to cross from one side to another, facilitating the transportation of materials and agricultural goods between different locations. (MJSC/CLJD-PIA 3)
