KUMALARANG, Zamboanga del Sur (PIA) - The Department of Agriculture (DA) has turned over two diversion dams, amounting to P10.2 million, to the beneficiaries of the Small Water Irrigation System Association (SWISA) in this town.

The Sicade SWISA received the keys for the completed P5.8 million Sicade Diversion Dam Project. This project is funded through the DA's Rice program and is poised to enhance irrigation efficiency, providing the community with the tools to optimize their rice production.

Additionally, the Gawil SWISA welcomed the P4.4 million Rehabilitation of Gawil Irrigation Project funded by the DA Quick Response Fund, as a commitment to supporting local agriculture and strengthening the resilience of the farming community.

Kumalarang Mayor Ruel G. Molina expressed his gratitude for these projects, emphasizing the significance of these projects in elevating rice production within the municipality. He committed to diligently managing and supporting the SWISA beneficiaries, recognizing the impact these endeavors would have on the sustainability of local agriculture.

The impact of these projects extends beyond infrastructure, significantly benefiting farmers in Barangay Gawil and Barangay Sicade. The projects are designed to ease and accelerate their livelihoods, providing a substantial boost to their income.

The turnover ceremony witnessed the presence of key figures instrumental in the successful execution of these projects. Officials from DA, the Municipal Agriculturist, along with SB Members, and SWISA officers and members, were all part of the event.

As Kumalarang anticipates a boost in rice production, these projects not only signify infrastructural progress but also pave the way for a more resilient and sustainable future for the local farming community.
