OWWA awards livelihood assistance to Isabela OFW association

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Region 2 has awarded recently the initial P200,000 grant to "AKO OFW Agricultural Farm Supply Association" in Lalog, Luna, Isabela.

OWWA Region 2 team leader Alma Gammad said the financial assistance is under the OWWA’s Tulong Pangkabuhayan sa Pag-Unlad ng Samahang Overseas Filipino Worker (Tulong PUSO) program as one-time livelihood financial grant.

Gammad said the program aims to encourage OFWs to establish their own organizations and engage in business activities that are duly recognized by government agencies like Department of Labor and Employment, Cooperative Development Authority, and Securities and Exchange Commission .

Luna Mayor Adrian Leandro P. Tio and Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager Adonis Fontanilla expressed thanks to OWWA Region 2 for the livelihood grant given to AKO OFW association in their town. 

They said the financial assistance will be a big help in their chosen business.

Aside from AKO OFW Agricultural Farm Supply Association, the Nagkakaisang OFW ng Cauayan City of Barangay San Luis, and the Bannawag Sur OFW Family Association General Merchandise of Bannawag Sur, Diffun, Quirino also received each an initial P200, 000 financial grant from OWWA’s Tulong PUSO program.
