'Maldives of Mindanao' project to make Misamis Occidental an investment hotspot

SINACABAN, Misamis Occidental (PIA) -- Highlighting the significant progress of the ongoing tourism infrastructure project, Gov.Henry S. Oaminal led the inspection of the Asenso Misamis Occidental Resort and Aquamarine Park in Barangay Libertad Bajo, Sinacaban town.

Accompanied by Ophelia Gorre, head of the Provincial Engineering Office, the governor is optimistic that the multi-billion project to transform the area into, the "Maldives of Mindanao," will elevate Misamis Occidental's tourism industry and catalyze economic growth within the province.

Maldives is an island state in the Indian Ocean that is famous for its beautiful landscape and equally stunning seascape.  In the 1970s, the Maldives was one of the world's 20 poorest countries. Today, it is a popular tourist destination.

Oaminal articulated the project's objectives, emphasizing its role in increasing tourist arrivals, attracting potential investors, and consequently creating more job opportunities for Misamisnons while contributing to higher provincial revenues.

With this, he envisions “a united Misamis Occidental and Misamis Occidental that will strive to bring progress, alleviate poverty, and bring economic benefits to the province."

Spanning 49 hectares of coastal forested area, the project encompasses an array of amenities, including 4-story hotels and cottages, inland villas, a playground, jacuzzi-equipped villas, a clubhouse, wildlife exhibits, fish feeding areas, a fish pond, mangrove villas, a midpoint rest café, a spa village, a seaside restaurant, coastal villas with swimming pools, a golf clubhouse, a convention center, camping sites, nature trails, a bird sanctuary, aquaculture zones, vegetable plantations, a chapel, and more.

This venture stands as one of the provincial government's flagship projects, aligned with Oaminal's Asenso vision. It aims to make Misamis Occidental a premier tourism destination and an investment hub within Mindanao.

The ongoing infrastructure project not only promises a picturesque getaway for tourists but also signifies a promising step toward sustainable economic development for the province. (JMOR/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
