Cagayan de Oro PESO expands career opportunities with cabin crew recruitment drive

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) -- Helping job hunters fulfill their dream jobs, the Cagayan de Oro City Public Employment Service Office (PESO) recently partnered with Philippine Airlines (PAL) in holding the Mindanao-wide cabin crew recruitment on January 26.

"Our primary goal is to have them hired; we want them to get the job; aside sa ga-offer lang mi ug [from just offering a] job, we are offering them their dream job,” said PESO CDO Manager Kathleen Kate Sorilla.

She emphasized that the primary goal of the partnership is to address unemployment challenges while aligning with the broader goal of employment opportunities in the aviation industry.

A total of 1,632 aspiring cabin crew members had the opportunity to present themselves, interact with PAL representatives, and submit their applications on-site.

Out of 350 applicants, only 17 have completed the five phases of the application. The collaboration aims not only to fill vacancies but also to develop skilled aspirants who will contribute to the airline's commitment to excellence in service.

Commending the logistical arrangements and support services being made by PESO in the recruitment event, Brigitte Flor Mercene, one of the accepted applicants, said, “Through PESO CDO, since sila jud ang nag-facilitate ani with PAL, the process has been very organized, from the online process to the onsite interview.”

Sorilla also highlighted the effort and support from Mayor Rolando Uy in ensuring employment opportunities for the local community. “Isa jud ni sa programa ni Mayor Rolando Uy to ensure employment facilitation, para sa atong mga katawhan. He really wanted career growth sa atong mga kabatan-onan [This is one of the programs of Mayor Rolando Uy aimed at ensuring employment facilitation for our people. He genuinely desires career growth for our youth],” she said.

Philippine Airlines and CDO PESO shared a commitment to developing local talent while fostering career growth opportunities, particularly for the youth. Through the excellence of PAL in the aviation industry and PESO's commitment to facilitating employment opportunities for the local community, the initiative seeks to bridge the gap between job seekers and career opportunities.

As the hiring concludes, both Philippine Airlines and PESO CDO look forward to welcoming new members to the PAL family and contributing to the success and growth of the aviation industry.  (KAPG/PIA-10)
