Employers called to settle contribution delinquencies

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) -- The Social Security System (SSS) Visayas continuously called on non-compliant employers to settle their contribution delinquencies through its Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) operations.

Recently, the SSS Visayas West 2 Division and Roxas City branch conducted RACE operations in the six selected areas in Capiz.

The SSS team together with some members of the media conduct the RACE operations in Capiz.

The team headed by Vice President for the Visayas West 2 Division Bernardo Dofitas Jr. visited Roxas City, Ivisan, Dumarao, and Cuartero towns with a total of P895,218.10 delinquencies affecting at least 34 employees whose contribution status is at stake.

Dofitas said they have been doing the RACE campaign since 2022 in the province to force employers to remit the Social Security contributions of their employees.

“To also provide information and education to the employees, we are here to help them so that whatever contribution is due then, should be paid to the SSS and this will eventually redound to the availment of their benefits,” Dofitas added, reiterating that they are there to help employees protect their rights.

Senior Communication Analyst and information officer Amiel Genova said that the operation is their second RACE campaign for this year after Aklan.

Genova said that most of the non-compliant employers have paid their contributions before, however they have gaps in paying it.

“After naton gintagaan sang billing kag ginkadtuan sang aton nga mga billing officers, medyo wala gihapon sila ga coordinate sa office naton. That is why before kita mag resort into serious remedies mas maayo nga ma-istorya naton ang employers (After we gave them the billing and they were visited by our account officers, they are still not coordinating with our office. That is why before we resort to serious remedies, it is better that we can talk to the employers),” Genova added.

After they received the Show Cause Orders, they were given 15 days to coordinate with the SSS and settle their contribution delinquencies.

The RACE team give the Show Cause Order to one of the non-compliant employers in Ivisan town.

Genova reminded the employers that if the work of an employee is directly related to the business or operation, regardless of his employment status, and has an employee-employer relationship, within 30 days they should report to the SSS, and a month after, one should have an SSS contribution.

Roxas City branch Manager Rene Moises Gonzales said that based on statistics of the working class in the province aged 20 to 59 years old, only six percent of them are SSS members and only 14 percent of the senior citizens are SSS pensioners.

“Gina-encourage ko gid ang mga hindi pa member nga hindi na kamo maghulat nga mapatay and inyo relatives kag madumduman niyo nga tani may SSS siya (I am encouraging everyone to become a member and don't wait for your relatives to die before you think of taking SSS),” Gonzales added.
