CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) -- The Philippine Rural Development Project Regional Project (PRDP) Coordination Office – Mimaropa together with the local government of Mansalay recently broke ground to start the construction of a 6.54 km farm-to-market road, which is set to connect Barangay Teresita, Waygan, and Balugo in the town of Mansalay in Oriental Mindoro.

This development project is geared towards improving accessibility and economic opportunities for the 9,369 residents of the area, including the indigenous Mangyan community.

This development project is geared towards improving accessibility and economic opportunities for the 9,369 residents of the area, including the indigenous Mangyan community.

The farm-to-market road project, which is part of a broader initiative to enhance rural infrastructure, aims to significantly reduce travel time and transportation costs for local farmers and residents. The road is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy, particularly in the agricultural sector by providing a more efficient route to market their products.

The project is highly anticipated by the residents, who have long faced challenges due to the lack of proper road infrastructure.

The new road is expected to facilitate better access to basic services and amenities, thus improving the overall quality of life in the area.

The initiative is part of a larger effort by the government to enhance rural development and connectivity across the Philippines. (JJGS/PIA MIMAROPA - Oriental Mindoro)
