ILIGAN CITY (PIA) -- The city government rolled out serbisyo (service) caravans in different barangays in the city to bring various services and programs closer to the people.

Mayor Frederick Siao emphasized the importance of providing effective and non-politicized services to the people and ensuring transparency in governance. He is also committed to addressing shortcomings in the delivery of service to the communities.  

"Isip mayor sa Iligan, naningkamot kita nga unsa man gani ang  mga kakulangon, atong matahatag, og mga progrma nga wala pa ma-conceptualize kaniadto, atong gibutang diha ug maoy atong giserbisyo sa katawhan sa Iligan. Naningkamot kita mismo sa opisna sa atong local government agencies nga mahan-ay ang responsibilidad sa lain-laing department [As mayor of Iligan, we strive to identify the shortcomings in the services we provide, as well as programs that have not yet been conceptualized, and we implement them to address the needs of the people of Iligan. We also strive within the offices of our local government agencies to streamline operations and ensure accountability among various departments]," he said.

The City Health Office offers essential healthcare services, including medical consultations, dental care, and mental health counseling. The City Social Welfare Development Office facilitates registration for solo parents, addresses other concerns, holds feeding programs, and assists with PhilHealth enrollment and indigency verification. The Office of Senior Citizen Affairs facilitates senior citizen ID registration, issuance of booklets, and validation services to ensure eligibility for benefits and privileges.

The City Veterinary Office provides free vaccination services for all animals in the community. The City Legal Office provides free notarial services and assistance with the documentation of lost documents. The Public Attorney's Office offers free legal services to individuals in need of legal assistance.

The Economic Enterprise and Development Office offers affordable commodities for sale, such as fish, root crops, and others. The Housing and Resettlement Office provides relocation assistance, administers the Community Mortgage Program, and facilitates community organizing initiatives.

The City Environment and Natural Resources Office offers free seedlings of rambutan, durian, lanzones, and marang; facilitates tree planting initiatives; oversees quarry permits; and manages solid waste disposal.  Meanwhile, the City Agriculturist Office distributes brochures on proper cultivation techniques and provides vegetable seeds.

The Gender and Development Office provides free eyebrow grooming and haircut services and free blood pressure monitoring. The Tourism Office offers assistance with tour planning, accreditation processes, and conference arrangements to support and promote tourism in the area. The local school board organizes storytelling sessions and provides snacks at daycare centers to enhance early childhood education and development.

The Population Commission provides wedding seminars as part of its services. The City Engineer's Office ensures the management of roads, bridges, drainage systems, and street lights.

The Office of Councilor Michelle Sweet, in collaboration with the Philippine Statistics Authority and the City Civil Registrar's Office, conducts mobile registration services for late birth certificate registrations and facilitates the distribution and registration of national IDs. The Office of Councilor Ramel Emborong offers shoe repair services and the sharpening of bolo knives and saws.  The Office of Councilor Betsy Zalsos distributes reading eyeglasses.  The Office of the Vice Mayor provides burial assistance.

PhilHealth provides consultation registration, updates members' records, including adding dependents or changing addresses or civil status, facilitates membership renewal, and assists with PhilHealth registration. Meanwhile, the Social Security System offers services to update and verify contributions for its members.

The Department of Labor and Employment collaborates with the Public Employment Service Office to facilitate job hiring and provide opportunities for skilled individuals.

The  2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade, 4th Mechanized Infantry Battalion, and 51st Infantry Battalion offer free haircut services. The Bureau of Fire and Protection offers blood pressure monitoring and free haircut services. Moreover, the Iligan City Police Office provides various community services, including tuli (circumcision), the distribution of slippers for hinterland barangays, and police clearance registration.

The Amai Pakpak Medical Center and the Philippine Red Cross facilitate blood-letting activities. Motivation Philippines conducts transformative expressive arts activities for children to foster creativity and well-being in the community.

The Serbisyo Caravans are scheduled to visit various barangays:  January 30 in Upper Tominobo, February 1 in Barangay Tomas Cabili (February 6), Sta. Elena (February 8), Abuno (February 13), Mahayahay (February 15), Poblacion (February 20), Pala-o (February 22), Del Carmen (February 27), Sto. Rosario (February 29), Mandulog (March 5), Mainit (March 7), Dulag (March 12), Digkilaan (March 14), Kalilangan (March 19), Rogongon (March 21), Kabacsanan (March 26), and Lanipao.
