NIA boosts agricultural productivity of irrigator associations in Palawan

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) --  The National Irrigation Authority Mimaropa (NIA) has turned over eight diesel engine centrifugal pumps to the Lakas Magsasaka ng Panitian Española Irrigators Association, Inc.

This initiative aligns with NIA's commitment to develop and maintain efficient, effective, and sustainable irrigation systems throughout the region. This also aims to bolster the irrigation infrastructure and agricultural productivity in the municipality.

Eight diesel engine centrifugal pumps, valued at close to a million pesos are expected to significantly improve irrigation in the area, thereby supporting local farmers in achieving better crop yields and enhancing their livelihoods. 

Each centrifugal pumps is capable of 2,600 revolutions per minute (RPM) and is capable of servicing up to five hectares of agricultural land.

They are expected to provide a much-needed boost in water delivery, especially in far-flung areas.

NIA Mimaropa Regional Manager Ronilio M. Cervantes and Palawan Irrigation Management Office Division Manager Armando L. Flores led the turnover to the members of the Lakas Magsasaka ng Panitian, Española Irrigators Association.

The ceremony included demonstrations of the pumps' capabilities and discussions on best practices for their maintenance and operation.
