Bookkeeping training for SK Treasurers accessible until February 4

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan (PIA) -- The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) online program (TOP) will still be accessible to Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) treasurers in Palawan who failed to finish bookkeeping training due to challenges in connectivity.

Tesda Provincial Director Gerardo Mercado received reports that trainees particularly those residing in island barangays struggled with internet connections.

He said out of 400 participants, 348 obtained their certificate of completion during the two-day training from January 27 to 28.

“Lahat naman ng towns nakapag-participate, kaya lang may mga reported na hindi nila natapos. Meron module 1 lang ang natapos, iba pre-test lang daw dahil struggle sila sa connection,

[All of the towns have participated; however, there are reports that some of the trainees failed to finish. Some have finished only module 1, others are the pre-test due to their struggle in connection]," he said.

Among the towns, Linapacan participants struggled the most in connection with four finishers out of 10 trainees.

The online program aims to capacitate participants in journalizing transactions, preparing trial balance and financial reports, and reviewing internal control systems.

The appointed SK treasurers are mandated to undergo bookkeeping training and obtain certification from TESDA before assuming their duties, in accordance with Section 2 of Republic Act No. 11768, or the Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act of 2015.

The SK treasurers are also required to complete the full training program within a year and pass the competency assessment. It is simultaneously facilitated for all appointed SK treasurers nationwide. (RG/PIA Mimaropa - Palawan)
