DOST sets up tech management office in Isabela university

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - The Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST - PCAARRD) has collaborated with the Isabela State University (ISU) in implementing the Regional Agri-Aqua Innovation System Enhancement (RAISE) Program.

The program's components include the establishment of an Intellectual Property and Technology Business Management (IP-TBM) office at the ISU Echague campus.

The two government institutions have earlier established the other components of the program including the installation of an Agri-Aqua Technology Business Incubation center, Agri-Aqua Business hub, and Knowledge Management hub.

University President Dr. Ricmar P. Aquino said the university is now gearing towards strengthening its research endeavors leading to the development of entrepreneurial technologies and registration of such for intellectual property.

He also said the establishment of the facilities will redound to the enhancement of product innovation and development in the region.

"The program will also contribute to economic growth and technology transfer. It will also aid in boosting potential industries in the region," Aquino said.

Fezoil Luz C. Decena, chief science research specialist and director for the Institution Development Division of DOST-PCAARRD, said the RAISE program will impact the attainment of the university's vision to be the leading research institution in the ASEAN region.

She also acknowledged the reception of the University in embracing the programs of the department, particularly on research and development, as she vowed that DOST will continue to assist the university as their partner in research and development. (OTB/MGE/PIA Isabela)
