408 irrigators in Ifugao benefit from TUPAD program

  

LAGAWE, Ifugao (PIA) —More than 400 members from various irrigators associations (IAs) in the province are beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).


The National Irrigation  Administration in  Ifugao accessed over P1.9 million from DOLE that would hire 408 IAs members for a minimum period of 10 days. The beneficiaries are from the towns of Aguinaldo, Alfonso Lista, Banaue, Hungduan, Kiangan, Lagawe, Lamut, and Mayoyao in said areas.


The works are focused on canal clearing and manual desilting of irrigation canals and embankment of the Hapid Irrigation System  and other communal irrigation systems, Dino Karl Inhumang of NIA Ifugao satellite office said.  


Prior to their deployment, DOLE-Ifugao personnel conducted a series of orientations to said beneficiaries.


TUPAD provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers, for a minimum period of 10 days, but not to exceed a maximum of 30 days, depending on the nature of work to be performed. (JDP/MBL-PIA CAR-Ifugao)
