Mambajao enhances barangay responders' skills on crisis mgmt

MAMBAJAO, Camiguin (PIA) -- To enhance the emergency response capabilities of the town, the Health Emergency Management Bureau (HEMB), along with the municipal fire personnel of Mambajao, conducted a two-day training program for barangay responders at Camiguin Convention Center, Mambajao Grounds, from January 31 to February 1.

The training covered necessary responding skills such as basic life support, basic firefighting techniques, bandaging, and victim packaging, said F/SInsp Clement Talines. With 105 participants from 7 barangays, the training aimed to equip responders with indispensable skills necessary for efficient crisis management.

Focusing on the importance of training and building confidence in responding to emergencies effectively, Mambajao Mayor Yñigo Jesus Romualdo said, "If naa mo diri karon, seryosohon jud ni nato. Daghan gipangtudlo. I-absorb jud natong tanan [If you are here now, let's take this seriously. There's a lot being taught; let's absorb it all. Don't waste the time of those who taught you].”

The initiative aimed to enhance and optimize response efforts among barangays in the province by training experts and local responders.

As natural calamities and emergencies remain persistent threats, investing in training and preparedness is necessary to safeguard communities and minimize loss of life and property.
