PhilHealth, Baguio LGU hold Universal Health Care KonSulTa Caravan

BAGUIO CITY (PIA) - - The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation(PhilHealth) has partnered with the City Government of Baguio for the delivery of  primary health care services to the people under the Universal Health Care law through the  KonSulTa (Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama). 

Under PhilHealth’s KonSulta Program, registered members can avail free medical consultation, health risk screening and assessment, selected laboratory and diagnostic test, and selected drugs and medicines from an accredited Philhealth Konsulta provider.

To be eligible to avail of the services, a Philhealth member should be registered with a Philhealth Konsulta provider.

On February 1,  PhilHealth – CAR Regional Vice President Dr. Dominga Gadgad and Mayor Benjamin Magalong led other officials and partners in a KonSulTa Caravan at the Malcolm Square here where city folks  were offered first patient encounter, and registration for the availment of primary health care benefits that are now being provided by 13 district health centers in Baguio.

Gadgad  said  Baguio City is one of the four Sandbox sites in the country, wherein PhilHealth download funds to the city government for the delivery of free primary health care benefits to registered beneficiaries.
 
The city government, through the accredited primary health care facilities, provides the KonSulTa primary health care benefit package to registered city folks,  and Philhealth pays for the delivery of service, she explained.

PhilHealth has already released to the city government the first frontloaded capitation fund in the  amount of P15.97 million last December 2023.
  
City Health Officer Dr. Celiaflor Brillantes  shared that they are now working to bring the KonSulta program to all the 16 district health centers in Baguio,  and to provide more equipment to the primary health care facilities for better health care services to the city folk


Gadgad also informed  that PhilHealth is set to bring  its e – gamot program in Baguio once the city government has established or identified its  Primary Health Care Provider Network that will include private health facilities and pharmacies.

Magalong expressed gratitude to PhilHealth for the partnership in ensuring the delivery of health care service to the people of Baguio.

The Konsulta Caravan served as a kick-off activity for the celebration of National Health Insurance Month  this February, and the 29th anniversary of Philhealth on Feb. 14 with the theme,“Damang – dama ko ang Serbisyo.” (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
