PSA brings national ID registration to barangays thru PhilSys on Wheels

The Philippine Statistics Authority utilizes the PhilSys on Wheels to enroll more Filipinos to the national identification system.

BONTOC, Mountain Province(PIA) – The Philippine Statistics Authority(PSA) is actively reaching out to all qualified unregistered citizens in far-flung areas to enroll in the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys).

Through the PhilSys on Wheels, the PSA in Mountain Province has deployed teams around the province particularly in barangays, and schools to facilitate easier access of registrants.

PSA-Mountain Province information officer Marvie Keg-ay said this mobile registration service aims to bring the benefits of the PhilSys directly to communities, ensuring that every eligible individual can easily register for their national ID without the need to travel far.

Individuals who wish to register are required to bring any of the supporting documents: original copy of birth certificate issued by PSA/National Statistics Office, or the Local Civil Registrar's Office; any government-issued ID with no' demographic error, or student/employee ID with birth date.

Demographic information is validated upon presenting their supporting documents and biometric information such as iris and fingerprint scanning and front-facing photographs are captured onsite.

Chief Statistical Specialist Jerry G. Santos is calling on all those who are not yet enrolled to the national ID system to take the opportunity while PSA PhilSys personnel are on mobile in their areas.

PSA Mountain Province was able to successfully register 109,115 individuals through different registration efforts, as of January 24, 2024.

Meanwhile, PhilSys registrants with damaged PhilIDs may request for a replacement. This can be done by filling out a request form and surrendering the defective PhilID at any PhilSys registration center. This is free of charge. (JDP/CVBT-PIA with PSA Mountain Province)
