CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) -- The Department of Agriculture (DA) Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech) distributed four-wheeled tractor implements to three farmers’ associations in Calapan City in Oriental Mindoro.
The received implements such as front loader, disc plow, and rotavator were given to Balinggayan Farmers Association, Gulod Farmers Association and Bayanan II Farmers Association. In addition, they received a levee maker.
This initiative is under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) Mechanization Program.
Calapan City Mayor Marilou Flores-Morillo, who also heads the City Agricultural Services Department stressed that the assistance given to the agriculture sector will significantly enhance farmers' yields.
“I want to thank the Department of Agriculture for responding to the needs of our agri-sector, especially the farmer associations of Calapan,” said Morillo.
The city government will continue to communicate with Calapeño farmers and the Department of Agriculture to further strengthen the level of mechanization and increase the yield of farmers in the city. (GATS/PIA MIMAROPA)
