Pangasinan to open own college on Feb 14

DAGUPAN CITY, Feb. 5 (PIA) – The provincial government of Pangasinan is set to open its Pangasinan Polytechnic College (PPC) on Feb. 14.

The PPC, which is owned and operated by the provincial government, aims to provide and secure a brighter future for the youth.

“The provincial government is keen on pushing for quality and accessible education for Pangasinenses,” Gov. Ramon Guico III said.

The first campus of the PPC, located at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center in Lingayen town, will offer free college education and vocational courses, covering tuition and miscellaneous fees to qualified students.

Guico expressed his gratitude to the team members who were part of the establishment and the inception of PPC.

Moreover, the provincial government plans to establish two other PPC campuses in San Carlos City and the eastern part of Pangasinan to ensure accessibility to education in diverse communities.

“The PPC is not a business-as-usual transition. It is a mind-altering aspiration that will soon be translated into reality,” he said.

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) passed Provincial Ordinance No. 300-2023 on June 26, 2023, formalizing the establishment of the PPC.

It was later amended through Provincial Ordinance No. 314-2024 on Jan. 22 this year, based on consultations and standards set by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). (JCR/MJTAB/JCDR, PIA Pangasinan)
