Parañaque City receives recognition as NCR Resilience Champion Awardee

QUEZON CITY (PIA) -- Parañaque City has once again achieved success after being recognized at the 2023 NCR Local Development Planners’ Colloquium held on January 25, 2024 at Ortigas Center, Pasig City.

According to Mayor Eric Olivarez, the Department of the Interior and Local Government-NCR, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), and the United Nations Development Programme – Philippines (UNDP-PH) have selected Parañaque City as one of the NCR Resilience Champion Awardees.

This tribute is a recognition of Parañaque City's effective and successful planning and mainstreaming of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation (DRRM-CCAM) into the city's Comprehensive Development Plan.

The recognition was received by City Planning Development Officer Engr. Benigno Rivera and staff from the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office under Dr. Teodoro Gonzales Jr. as representatives of Parañaque City.

Mayor Olivarez expressed his gratitude to the DILG-NCR, MMDA, and UNDP Philippines for acknowledging the city government. He also assured the continuous dedication and commitment of the city government to planning and implementing programs that advocate for risk reduction management to protect residents from disasters.
