PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan (PIA) -- The two new assistant schools’ division superintendents commit to addressing the challenge of the geographical location of Palawan through managing schools in the northern and southern portions of the province.

Dr. Rafael Manalo and Rodel Magnaye started Tuesday to report on their duties in the Schools Division of Palawan, which include the courtesy visit to the sangguniang panlalawigan.

Prior to transfer, Manalo served the same post in Oriental Mindoro, while Magnaye’s recent assignment was from Occidental Mindoro.

“Nag-usap na kami na hahatiin namin, halimbawa ako sa north at siya sa south. Para may focus on walang mani-neglect na isang paaralan sa ating division,” Manalo said.

Manalo will manage the schools in the northern portion, while Magnaye on the south, as per the initial discussion. Both agreed that it would help bring the services of the Department of Education (DepEd) closer to the community.

The geographic location of Palawan is the challenge seen by two DepEd officials in addressing concerns about schools in the province.

Magnaye, who had a long-time experience as school governance and operations division chief, believed that listening to the concerns of teachers is vital to recognizing their roles as frontline service providers of education to learners.

“Kung hindi natin sila papakinggan, ang serbisyo ay don lang sa kung ano ang aming ibababa, ‘yon lang ang gagawin nila. Kaya kung ano ang konteksto ng community, ng paaralan, tingnan natin para ‘yon ang maipagkaloob natin dahil base ‘yan sa pangangailangan nila,” he said. (RG/PIA Mimaropa - Palawan)
