DA to turn over composting facilities to farmers in Romblon

ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) -- The Department of Agriculture (DA), through the Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM), is preparing to hand over four units of composting facilities for biodegradable wastes for the use of farmers and the local government of Santa Maria in Romblon.

Among the recipients of the composting facilities include the Municipal Agriculture Office, Barangays Concepcion Norte and Concepcion Sur, and the Bonga Farmers and Fisherfolks Association.

The facilities will be located at Concepcion Sur Elementary School and Concepcion Norte Elementary School.

According to the DA, composting plays a vital role in enhancing soil health, reducing reliance on synthetic fertilizers, and promoting environmental sustainability through the reduction, reuse, and recycling of biodegradable wastes.

Each recipient will receive a CFBW technology package, which includes one size reduction machine unit and one rotary composter unit. (PJF/PIA Mimaropa - Romblon)
