Free indigenous trees for Valentine’s Day

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) -- Various indigenous tree species were given for free by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 2 as part of the 'Tree Hugging' campaign this heart's month. 

The tree species displayed at SM City Tuguegarao for distributrion to interested individuals include Narra, Ipil, Tuai and Tindalo. 

"For those who have a heart for the nature or nature lovers, these are for them," Regional Executive Director Gwendolyn Bambalan said .

“When we put our hearts into everything that we do, it manifests our love and commitment,” she added during the kick-off celebration of the Tree Hugging campaign.

During the event, tree tagging with the use of a QR code at the Rogelio B. Baggayan Nature Park and Wildlife Center in Tuguegarao City was also launched. This digital technology of tree tagging aims to provide descriptions and other relevant information about forest trees being maintained at the park. (GVB/PIS Region 2)
