CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of a concrete revetment, with a total length of 210 meters.

This project was established along the communities in Barangay Alipaoy in the town of Paluan to serve as protection from flooding, especially during the rainy season and during the occurrence of strong typhoons.

In a report by district engineer Joselito A. Antonio, the flood control structure will prevent the overflow of water coming from the river located in the flood-prone area of Pamutusin road.

DPWH added that apart from protecting the lives and properties of the community around the area, the completed structure will also help mitigate damage to farm lands which mainly produce crops such as rice, corn and onions in support to the agricultural and economic development of the province.
