ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Mimaropa, in collaboration with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) and the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) of Odiongan, Romblon, recently provided aid to 12 elderly inmates of the Odiongan District Jail.

The 12 senior inmates were given hygiene kits containing soap, shampoo, alcohol, toothpaste, and deodorant.

They were also given P6,000 as social pension for first semester of the year.

Social welfare and development team leader Abegail Fetilo said that the initiative aims to provide support and assistance to senior citizens currently detained at the Odiongan District Jail, particularly regarding health and daily needs.

Meanwhile, DSWD said that the activity underscores the recognition of the rights and needs of PDLs, especially senior citizens amidst their situation. (PJF/PIA Mimaropa - Romblon)
