Tuguegarao City District Jail opens inmate-managed bakery

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) - -  The Tuguegarao City District Jail’s male dormitory is now offering seven kinds of bread made available to all Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) personnel and even consumers outside the jail.

This comes after the district jail officially opened its bakery recently, where persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) under its custody themselves demonstrated the skills they have learned from the recent bread and pastry training of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

The warden expressed his gratitude to TESDA for the training provided to the PDL, including providing complete baking equipment.

“The program was also in collaboration with LGU Tuguegarao under its Technology Livelihood and Development Office. They also donated complete baking equipment that was already in use for the bakery’s present operation,” the warden added.

The bakery is open to the public, but the warden encourages interested buyers to contact their official Facebook page at Bjmp Tuguegarao City Dj-MD to place an order.

“You may order at our facility, but on a per-order basis only due to the demand,” he added. (OTB/MDCT/PIA Cagayan)
