Another super health center breaks ground in Pangasinan town

SISON, Pangasinan, Feb. 26 (PIA) -- Another super health center will soon benefit residents in mountainous areas in Pangasinan town following the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the facility in Barangay Bulaoen East in Sison, Pangasinan, on Feb. 22.

Senator Christopher Lawrence Go, chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, said there will be a total of 26 super health centers in Pangasinan that will help decongest hospitals and provide early disease detection or much-needed access to key healthcare services to constituents in rural areas of Pangasinan.

“A super health center is a medium-type polyclinic that has services such as laboratory facilities, pharmacy, birthing facilities, an outpatient department, dental services, a comprehensive PhilHealth outpatient department, and other minor medical services,” he said.

Go said the facility in Sison, where the Department of Health (DOH) is the lead implementing agency for the construction, has a budget cost of around P10 million for the infrastructure and P2 million for the medical equipment.

In a press conference, the senator said there are already more than 600 super health centers around the country, 307 of which were constructed in 2022 and 322 in the following year.

Likewise, Sison municipal Mayor Danilo Uy expressed his gratitude to the national government for the construction of the super health, saying that it will greatly help residents in Sison, especially those living in hard-to-reach areas where indigenous peoples (IPs) live.

In Pangasinan, super health centers are located in Alaminos City, Balungao, Basista, Manaoag, Mapandan, Tayug, Binalonan, Asingan, Umingan, Sison, Agno, Alcala, Bani, Calasiao, Malasiqui, San Fabian, San Quintin, San Manuel, Urbiztondo, Dagupan City (SHC I and II), Laoac, Mabini, Mangatarem, San Nicolas, and Anda.
