BIR RDO 98 launches 2024 tax campaign

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) -- The Revenue District Office (RDO) No. 98 of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) officially launched the national tax campaign here on February 27, with the theme “Sa Tamang Buwis, Pag-asenso'y Mabilis."

The campaign aspires to rally support from taxpayers in generating funds essential to the country's economic recovery and development through the accurate and timely payment of taxes.

Revenue District Officer (RDO) Monib Dimalomping said the primary purpose of the annual tax campaign is to enhance public consciousness about tax responsibilities, asserting that paying taxes is not only a legal obligation but also a moral duty for every citizen.

"For the BIR, it is our responsibility to compute, assess, and collect our taxes accurately and provide excellent services to the taxpayers. On the part of the tax practitioners, it is their duty and obligation to give correct and sound advice to their clients," he said.

Dimalomping further underscored that the campaign signifies a mutual agreement of protection and support, highlighting the symbiotic relationship between the government and taxpayers wherein the government ensures protection, while taxpayers fulfill their duty by paying taxes.

He emphasized the tangible benefits of taxes in funding government services and projects, as well as the importance of taxpayers remitting the correct amounts to enable the government to carry out its functions effectively.
