KIANGAN, Ifugao (PIA)-- The Kiangan Fitness Club organized a series of free Zumba sessions to promote health and wellness in celebration of Heart Month.
"May the Heart Month serve as a reminder for all of us to take good care of our hearts. In celebration of love and well-being, we have organized a month-long series of free Valentine Zumba or dance classes," said Janni Albano of Kiangan Fitness Club.
Dubbed "Valentine Zumba for Healthy Hearts 2024," free Zumba sessions started on February 3, and scheduled every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday throughout the month at the municipal gymnasium.
These classes are inclusive catering to individuals of all fitness levels and backgrounds, providing a fun and inclusive space for the community to enjoy dance while enhancing physical and mental well-being.
Albano mentioned that, according to research, hypertension is the leading cause of cardiovascular death in the Philippines for over three decades.
The event is supported by the Kiangan local government unit, the private sector, and the community.
The Philippine Heart Month is commemorated every February pursuant to Proclamation No. 1096 issued on January 9, 1973, to raise awareness of heart disease among Filipinos as a critical and developing health problem. (FBR- PIA CAR, Ifugao)
