SSS runs after delinquent employers in Laoag City

LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte (PIA) – The Social Security System-Laoag City Branch carried out its Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) operation on Feb. 27 in this city, conducting a surprise inspection to business establishments who are delinquent in remitting the proper monthly contributions and failing to report all their employees. 


The team issued a letter of notice to 12 business establishments in Laoag City including construction supplies and services, tailoring shop, courier, restaurants/foodhouses, footwear shop, automotive store, and car services. 


Richard Raralio, branch head of SSS Laoag City, said the team recorded almost P500,000 unpaid contributions while 72 employees were affected from the identified business establishments.


“The role of the Social Security System is to give  protection to its members. To provide maternity leave, permanent disability, dealth, retirement  and sickness benefits. We ensure our contributors to provide fast and right service,” said Raralio.

RACE OPERATION. A team from Social Security System (SSS) Laoag City Branch visited business establishments in the city to remind the employer to settle unpaid contributions of their employees.

Employers are given a 15 day grace period to coordinate and settle with SSS Laoag City Branch for immediate compliance.


Raralio reiterated that the purpose of conducting the RACE operation is a way to inform the employers to fix the records of their employees regardless of their status within 30 days. At the same time, paying the right amount of contribution so that employees will be able to receive the right benefits from SSS.


Meanwhile, Lawyer Warden Domingo, legal officer of SSS-Laoag City, reminded all employers to faithfully comply with the SSS Law, especially remitting the contributions of their employees as well as updating their names to the said office to avoid legal actions and penalties.
