Organized by the provincial government, the February 24 event at the La Union Convention Center highlighted the exquisite craftsmanship of local weavers and the versatility of abel (Ilocano woven cloth) in creating contemporary, fashionable apparel.

The show brought the unique beauty and adaptability of abel to life, showcasing garments designed for both men and women.

The 20 Mutia ti La Union 2024 candidates confidently strutted the runway, adorned in resort wear pieces crafted from abel Bangar textiles by local designers.

Bangar town is famed for its loom-weaving industry, renowned for its high-quality, locally and internationally sought-after products.

Notably, the weavers preserve traditional techniques, passed down through generations, using antique equipment to create their stunning inabel (woven) creations.

Governor Raphaelle Veronica Ortega-David, present at the event, reaffirmed the provincial government's commitment to uplifting and strengthening the local fabric industry.

This includes promoting the use of indigenous fibers in official wear, fashion shows, and exhibits.
