PSA concludes Civil Registration Month 2024 with focus on seamless services

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union, Feb. 29 (PIA) – The Philippine Statistics Authority-Regional Statistical Services Office 1 (PSA-RSSO 1) culminated the celebration of the 34th Civil Registration Month (CRM) in the Ilocos Region on Feb. 27.

Held under the theme "CRVS: The Future of Seamless Services," the culminating ceremony took place at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas in San Fernando City.

Representatives from various regional agencies participated in the event.

During the activity, PSA-RSSO 1 presented the overview of the 2023-2028 Philippine Strategic Plan, the vital statistics of the Ilocos Region, and the region’s statistics on agriculture.

It also featured its data enclave, a facility that stores data derived from censuses and surveys which can be accessed but for limited purposes such as for research and training.

Participants were also provided with updates on the Civil Registry System – Information Technology Project Phase II and highlighted how services were made more accessible and convenient such as when securing copies of birth, death, and marriage certificates; authentication and annotation of civil registry documents; getting certificate of no marriage or no death; and online viewing of said documents.

Teresa Olarte, acting chief statistical specialist, in her keynote message said PSA remains steadfast on its mandate to provide quality civil registration services to the public.

"The PSA is continually committed to providing efficient and responsive civil registration services to its clients and stakeholders,” Olarte said.

She added, “As our partners, let's continue to work hand-in-hand to provide seamless services to our people.”

Celebration of the CRM is pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 682 signed by former President Corazon Aquino in 1991 which aims to remind Filipinos of their duty to register their vital events such as birth, death, and marriage.

Also, it aims to raise public awareness and appreciation of various civil registry documents. (JCR/AMB/CGCC, PIA Region 1)
