PBBM to grace Basilan’s celebration of golden year

ISABELA CITY, Basilan, Mar. 01(PIA) - The island province of Basilan is buzzing with excitement as it prepares to welcome President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. (PBBM) this weekend.

The President's visit coincides with the province's 50th founding anniversary celebration anchored with the themed "Basilan @50: Advancing our gains, expanding our capacities towards better life for all."

Upon his arrival, PBBM is set to lead a significant event under the Small Arms and Light Weapon (SALW) Program, which is an integral part of the government's normalization efforts in the province. The destruction of turned-over firearms signifies the province's progress in achieving peace and stability. This initiative demonstrates the government's commitment to dismantling armed groups and promoting a secure environment for the people of Basilan.

In addition to the SALW Program, PBBM will also spearhead the ceremonial distribution of an economic package to target beneficiaries. This initiative aims to uplift the living conditions of the locals and further support the province's development. The President's presence during the distribution highlights the administration's dedication to fostering economic growth and improving the quality of life for the residents of Basilan.

The 50th founding anniversary celebrations will showcase Basilan's unique culture and traditions while emphasizing the gains made in attaining peace and development. The event aims to bring together the diverse communities of Basilan to celebrate their shared history and achievements.

Residents and officials alike express their enthusiasm for the President's visit, which they believe will boost the morale of the people and inspire them to continue working towards a brighter future for Basilan. The event will also serve as an opportunity for the national government to assess the progress made in the province and identify areas that require further attention and investment.

As Basilan celebrates this remarkable milestone, the people look forward to a future filled with hope, progress, and unity. The President's visit is a testament to the government's commitment to supporting the province's growth and development, fostering peace, and promoting a better life for all Basilan residents.
