BLISTT Airshed TWG formulates 2024 Action Plan

BAGUIO CITY (PIA)-- Periodic monitoring and emission inventory of vehicles including all greenhouse gases, and  mobile sources, and identification of green buffer zones are among the proposed  priority activities of the Baguio-La Trinidad-Itogon-Sablan-Tuba- Tublay (BLISTT) Airshed governing board this year.

The Airshed Technical Working Group  has formulated  the 2024 Action Plan during its recent 1st quarter meeting for  presentation and approval by  BLISTT Airshed governing board.

The plan comprises the objective of the Clean Air Program which is to regulate all sources of air emissions, to effectively manage the three sources of air emission namely; mobile, stationary, and area sources. It outlines the programs, projects, budgetary requirements, time frame and the responsible agencies to contribute to the collective efforts of the government and private sectors in reducing air pollution.

Other  planned activities include the provision of  technical assistance in the passage of clean air ordinances by local government units, strengthening of information education campaign utilizing traditional and digital media, conduct of free smoke emission testing, seminar on preventive maintenance of vehicles/eco-driving/fuel efficiency management, provision of LED board for IEC on air quality monitoring, stakeholders’ forum for clean air,  and BLISTT Airshed summit.  

Meanwhile, Grace Solano, BLISTT Airshed technical administrative assistant,  called on government and private institutions to continuously implement "Carless Day" for their employees, and for other government and private offices to adopt said practice. (JDP/MAWC-PIA-CAR)
