LEGAZPI CITY, Albay (PIA) -- The Civil Service Commission (CSC) is now moving away from the traditional pen-and-paper Career Service Examination (CSE) and will be digitizing the test for aspiring government employees in the Bicol region starting March.
The exam will be available online and will be conducted twice a week.
Only 20 slots will be allotted for every exam schedule, and interested individuals must register online to reserve a slot.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Civil Service Commission regional office in Legazpi City, CSC Chairman Karlo Nograles said the computer examination (Comex) was introduced to simplify and modernize the examination process, making it more efficient and accessible to applicants.

All the exam questions are centralized and securely stored, he said.
Nograles also assured that CSC offices have stable servers and internet connections to prevent any system errors.
To register for Comex, interested clients must first sign up through www.comex.csc.gov.ph. After registration, they will be able to select a slot from the available schedule of Comex in their region.
Similar to CSE pen-and-paper test, any Filipino citizen aged 18 years or above, with good moral character, may take Comex.
However, they must not have been convicted by final judgment of any offense or crime involving moral turpitude or disgraceful or immoral conduct, dishonesty, examination irregularity, drunkenness, or addiction to drugs.
Additionally, they must not have been dishonorably discharged from military service or dismissed for cause from any civilian positions in the government.

Lastly, they must not have taken the same level of CSE, regardless of mode, within the last three months before the date of the Comex.
To become a professional or sub-professional civil servant, you need to pass an eligibility exam. The professional eligibility exam takes about 3 hours and 10 minutes, while the sub-professional exam lasts for 2 hours and 40 minutes.
The exam results will be released on the same day.
The Comex fee is P650, while the PPT fee is P500. Once you register for the exam, the CSC will send you an email regarding the schedule of your exam. You need to pay the fee a few hours before the exam.
