DA distributes P6.4M cash aid to Isabela rice farmers

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - The Department of Agriculture (DA) Region 2 distributed a total of P6.4 million to 1, 297 rice farmers of Isabela under the Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RFFA) program.

DA Regional Executive Director Rose Mary Aquino led the distribution at Baligatan, City of Ilagan, Isabela, recently.

Each of the 1, 297 farmer beneficiaries from the first district of Isabela received P5,000 cash iad.. 

“This day would not have been realized if not for the hard work and true dedication of our government leaders in Isabela,” Aquino said.

Aquino instilled to value the efforts of the national government to uplift the lives of farmers as she urged them to share the good news in their community.

City of Ilagan Agriculturist Moises Alamo has expressed his thanks, in behalf of the farmer beneficiaries, for the cash assistance given by DA.

Republic Act No. 11203, or the Rice Tariffication Law (RTL), provides that the excess tariff revenues should be used to help rice farmers, thus introducing the RFFA.

The financial assistance is given to eligible rice farmers as compensation for the projected reduction or loss of income arising from the tarrification of the quantitative import restrictions on rice. (OTB/MGE/PIA Isabela)
