A groundbreaking ceremony was recently held for the construction of the Digital Forensic Center building of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Western Visayas Regional Office (WEVRO) in Fort San Pedro, Iloilo City.

The ₱27.2-million project involved the construction of a two-storey building with a roof deck. It encompasses various essential components including earthworks, reinforced concrete works, other civil and architectural, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and electronics, and communication works.

DPWH regional director Sanny Boy O. Oropel, in his message, said the building will improve national security, empower law enforcement with advanced capabilities to solve cyber-related cases, and foster enhanced collaboration with other agencies and international partners in addressing digital crimes in Western Visayas.

"Today marks a significant milestone in our pursuit of justice and security as we groundbreak the Digital Forensic Center building of the National Bureau of Investigation Western Visayas Regional Office. This project is in line with our commitment to staying ahead in the digital age and combating cyber threats effectively," said Oropel.

He added, "This building equips us with the tools and infrastructure needed to stay ahead of evolving digital threats. It strengthens our ability to conduct thorough investigations and ensures a more effective response to the growing challenges posed by cybercriminals."

As cyber threats continue to evolve, the soon-to-rise Digital Forensic Center building stands as a symbol of NBI's commitment to staying at the forefront of technology and maintaining a robust defense against digital crimes, said DPWH 6 in a press report. (AAL/LAF/PIA6-Iloilo/DPWH6)
