Men show support to women in Mountain Province

BONTOC, Mountain Province (PIA) --  March is Women’s  Month, and men in the province show their support to women as they celebrate their achievements while acknowledging the challenges they to face in achieving gender equality.

Male faculty and staff of the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) who are members of the  Men Opposing Violence Everywhere (MOVE) led a taebo session during the kickoff of the Women's Month celebration on March 1.

The taebo followed a walk-for-a-cause  participated  by men and women personnel of the different government agencies, and MPSPC intern students.

Men from the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College in Bontoc, Mountain Province lead the taebo session during the Women's Month celebration kickoff.

Proceeds of the walk-for a -cause will benefit the kidney patients at the Bontoc General Hospital who are undergoing dialysis treatment.

"We really appreciate the all-out support by the various agencies to our undertaking. We also express our profound thanks to the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College for leading our taebo. It was made more significant by the fact that it was led by a group of men personnel of our college," Eunice G. Andaya of the Provincial Population and Development Office said.

In the same event also launching the Fire Prevention Month, the fire marshall of the Bontoc Fire Station emphasized the need to heighten awareness about fire safety and prevention, and the impact of fires on the people, property and the environment.

Fire Inspector  Gilbert Ngayaan also stressed that fire prevention is not only the sole responsibility of the Bureau, but the whole community.

“This Fire Prevention Month is not only the sole responsibility of the Bureau of Fire Protection, or the Bontoc Fire Station, this is everybody’s concern,” he said.(JDP/VJBT-PIA CAR,  Mt. Province)
