Centenarians receive P100K from Puerto Princesa city gov’t

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan (PIA) -- Nine centenarians in the city received a check worth P100,000 from the city government.

According to the City Information Office (CIO), this cash incentive is a tribute to senior citizens who reached the age of 100 years.

Mayor Lucilo Rodriguez Bayron personally handed over the check to each of the centenarians after the flag ceremony on Monday, March 11, in the New Green City Hall Building grounds.

Among the nine centenarians who were given cash incentives are Martina Singane and Lolita Velez of Brgy. Sta. Lourdes; Antonieta Espanola of Brgy. Tagabinet; Jacobo Ricarte of Brgy. Bahile; Monica Tolentino of Brgy. Model; Apolinaria Sumandal of Brgy. Maruyugon; Sofia Celestial of Brgy. Sicsican; Lino Lazo Sr. of Brgy. Kamuning; and Feliz Asutilla of Brgy. San Jose.

The distribution of cash incentives to the centenarians is under the Senior Citizen Assistance Program of the Mapagkalingang Program of the Mega Apuradong Administrasyon which aims to recognize and honor centenarians, and to help centenarians for their financial, medical, and daily living needs.

The CIO added that apart from the P100K from the city government, the centenarians will also receive an additional P100K as a gift from the national government through the Department of Social and Welfare Development (DSWD) under Republic Act 10868 or “Centenarians Act of 2016”.
