Completed road project to boost economic development in Bauko

BAUKO, Mountain Province(PIA)--Residents in a remote village in Bauko have now easier mobility, and better access to various government services with the completion of a road in Sitio Cotcot in Poblacion.

Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan Jr.  and other officials  led inauguration of the completed  second and third phases of the Cotcot Road project on  March 5.  Fr. Noe Mendoza led the blessing of the project.

The P25-million worth project was made possible through the efforts of provincial local government unit, local officials, and the Department of the  Interior and Local Government, and funding support from  Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Tesoro Go.

Gov. Bonifacio Lacwasan Jr led other officials in the inauguration of the recently completed Cotcot Road in Poblacion, Bauko, which connects Cotcot to barangays Abatan, and Bagnen.

According to the Governor, the senator provided P5 million for the first phase of project  which was completed in 2021. Seeing the importance of this road project which connects Cotcot to barangays Abatan, and Bagnen,  Go approved the release of P10M for the second phase, and another P10M for the third phase.    

Lacwasan congratulated the local officials for their active drive in lobbying for projects for the community's development.

Beneficiaries  expressed gratitude for the completion  project, which is expected to help usher economic opportunities in the area.

“This program is an avenue for us, people of Poblacion especially from Cotcot, to say thank you to the initiative of the Governor. Without you, this would not have been possible,” Barangay Poblacion chairperson Gerald Cajigan said.

“Thank you so much, we will not forget this. Every time we pass by here, we will always remember you. Thank you also to my fellow donors who donated a parcel of their lot, thank you so much. We would also like request additional project specifically a concrete barrier to ensure the safety of the pupils on the school,” added Lourdes Sapdoy, a resident and kagawad from Cotcot.

Various small community development projects were also  inaugurated in Poblacion, Bauko.  These include the improvement of Lilicden pathway/drainage, continuation of Tribal Hall in Cotcot; improvement of Poblacion-Abatan municipal road; improvement of Barangay Poblacion road; improvement of Dagdagupan At-ato  in Poblacion, and improvement of Maluban drainage/ pathway.(JDP/CVBT-PIA CAR, Mountain Province)
