PSA commits to fast, seamless civil registration services

SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) -- The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) is committed to delivering fast and seamless civil registration services to the public.

This is according to PSA Antique Provincial Statistical Officer Randy M. Tacogdoy in observance of the Civil Registration Month (CRM).

The 34th iteration of CRM this February 2024 underscores PSA’s dedication to making civil registration quicker, easier, and more convenient, as enshrined in the theme “Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS): The Future of Seamless Services.”

In an interview, Tacogdoy said that civil registration provides Filipinos with civil registry documents that provide individuals with legal identity, citizenship, and access to government programs and services they are entitled to.

In addition, civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS) hold a significant role in nation-building since vital events such as

births, deaths, and marriages, as well as statistics derived from various sectors, help the government in formulating programs and policies responsive to the specific needs of communities and the country as a whole.

With this, it is crucial that the public register vital events on time and give out truthful and accurate responses in surveys and censuses conducted by the PSA since data collected, processed, and interpreted serve as the basis of the authorities in their policy- and decision-making.

PSA regularly conducts surveys and censuses to identify the real condition of Filipinos at the grassroots, hence, the agency’s call for the public to welcome and actively participate in such.

The 34th CRM celebration in this province kicked off with a caravan from the capital town of San Jose de Buenavista to the northern municipality of Libertad, followed by the launching ceremony at the Libertad Community Affairs Hall and mobile registration services which included Birth Registration Assistance

Project (BRAP) and assistance to requests for documents in security paper (SECPA).

In celebration of the 34th CRM, PSA Antique Provincial Statistical Office also outlined various activities aimed at educating the public about the importance of civil registration and empowering communities to take part in the civil registration process. (AGP/BPS/PIA Antique)
