BAGUIO CITY(PIA) -- Seven police stations of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) were conferred the “institutionalized” status of the Performance Governance System (PGS) of the Philippine National Police PATROL 2030.

The institutionalized status is the highest rank in the PGS, the strategic management tool that aims to transform the PNP into a more effective, efficient, and responsive police service by 2030.

The Police Regional Office Cordillera command group headed by Regional Director BGen. David Peredo Jr., together with Dr. Ariel Nimo Pumecha, the University of the Cordilleras vice president for academics and research, led the conferment of the institutionalized status to the  seven police units in a ceremony held recently at Camp Major Bado Dangwa in  La Trinidad, Benguet.

The BCPO Camdas Police Station (PS 2), the Legarda Police Station (PS 5), the Aurora Hill Police Station (PS 6), the Abanao Police Station (PS 7),the Kennon Police Station (PS 8), the Irisan Police Station (PS9), and the Marcos Highway Police Station (PS10) successfully passed and processed all the requirements of the institutionalization evaluation process, the fourth and final stage of the PGS.

The PGS Gold Eagle Award was conferred to PS7 with 97.16 percent rating, PS5 with 96.56 percent, PS2 with 96.16 percent, PS10 with 96.14 percent, and PS6 with 96.01 percent.

The PGS Silver Eagle Award was given to PS8 with 95.24 percent rating, and PS9 with 94.74 percent.

The police station chiefs received the awards, and witnessed by their respective Advisory Group for Police Transformation and Development.

Pumecha congratulated the awardees for attaining the highest rank in the PGS. He also commended the different stakeholders in the respective stations for their cooperation and support to the police.

"Today, I would like to draw our attention to the Performance Governance System, a crucial framework that has become the cornerstone of your efforts to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the Philippine National Police. Thus, my warmest congratulations to everyone, from the chief of police, station advisory group members, and the personnel of the different police stations," Pumecha said.

He reminded that the PGS is a commitment of the PNP to excellence and accountability to earn the trust and confidence of the Filipino people.

“May we bear in mind that the PGS is not just a bureaucratic requirement; it is a commitment to a higher standard of service that transcends individual actions and encompasses the collective efforts of every member of the Philippine National Police. Through your unwavering commitment to excellence and accountability, you will continue to earn the trust and confidence of the Filipino people,” he said.

According to Peredo, being institutionalized means that these police units have established systems, and procedures to do their  duties and responsibilities effectively.

The Naguilian and Pacdal police stations, and the Baguio City Mobile Force Company were conferred the institutionalized status in August  2023.

The gains achieved by BCPO units in implementing the PGS and PATROL 2030 in Baguio City resulted in breakthrough results that had a significant impact on the community. (JDP/RMC- PIA CAR)
